Rachel Smith, CPA

Rachel is a Certified Public Accountant with the heart of a small business owner. After studying the great books at the University of Chicago, a stint fighting fires on a hotshot crew, and working on farms across the Northwest, she moved to Chelan, Washington to start her own organic veggie farm--and discovered that the part of the work she loved most was business systems, planning, and management.

She returned to school in 2013, earned a Graduate Certificate in Accounting and earned her CPA in 2019.  She worked as an in-house accountant for several local wineries and orchards before starting Books on Point in 2016.  The firm rebranded in 2021 to focus exclusively on wineries.

She has been an active member of the Chelan business community, volunteering over the years with the Historic Downtown Chelan Association, Bach Fest, Chelan Evening Farmers Market, and Chelan Earth Day.  Other interests include cycling and studying violin and piano with her daughters.

Josh Sorenson, EA

Josh is an Enrolled Agent (licensed to represent taxpayers before the IRS) and a Licensed Tax Consultant with the state of Oregon. After leaving his hometown in Montana, Josh lived in various beautiful spots across the Northwest and has recently settled down in Tillamook, Oregon. He has taken full advantage of PNW culture, from summiting Mt. Adams to riding his bike in Portland’s annual Pedalpalooza festival. In his free time, Josh enjoys camping, hiking, and discovering hot springs. He is also a small business owner in his own right, operating Trail Toddy with his partner Isabel.

Rebecca Airmet

Rebecca (Rachel’s older sister!) previously worked as a managing editor at a scientific journal and as a freelance consultant to authors.  Her editorial attention to detail has translated well to her bookkeeping work. Rebecca is active in her local community, serving on the Capital Improvement Budget committee for the city of Saint Paul, Minnesota, which she now calls home. She spends her down-time knitting fair isle sweaters, spinning yarn, and riding her bicycle.
